Nostalgia does a good deal of the work here. Wearers who had this at sixteen come back to it in their thirties — one of them sprayed it on in drugstores for years before she could afford a bottle — and what greets them is peach and blood orange, the peach nowhere on Lacoste's own list, turning powdery over jasmine and violet before musk carries it out. Owners take it to the gym and wear it through summer. The complaint recurs: it drops away quickly, longevity marked four and five out of ten, with one owner who loves the scent calling its performance abysmal. The unkind reviews stay in the memory too — a fragrance for boring days, one writes; the wet wipe handed out with a rotisserie chicken, writes another.
