Editorial policy

Independence

M. Conder decides our editorial standards and coverage. Houses, retailers and affiliate networks do not review our writing before publication or approve our verdicts.

Impressions are labelled with their authorship or supporting report counts where available. Older entries without counted reports are identified separately. How we source explains these categories and shows the current totals.

Retailer links are part of our affiliate business: we may earn a commission when you buy. Those arrangements do not change our descriptions of a fragrance's notes, wear or formulation record. We do not survey every seller, and a cheaper bottle may be available elsewhere. Check the retailer's price at checkout.

How a retailer earns its position

Where a fragrance page lists retailer offers, we rank them by:

1. How closely the offer matches the product on the page. 2. Seller type: authorised retailer, marketplace, grey-market seller, then unverified seller. 3. The seller's reliability. 4. Whether it is in stock. 5. The listed price, with a known price ranked above an unknown price. 6. Commission rate, only when all five factors above are equal.

Commission also informs which retailers we work with. We do not sell a retailer a position in the list.

What we will not print

• Health claims. We do not claim that a fragrance treats, cures or prevents a medical condition.
• Claims that two fragrances are identical. Comparisons may describe them as close in character and explain their differences.
• Unsupported attribution. We cite the source for a perfumer, launch year or note list, or leave the detail out.
• Unsupported numbers. Report counts and other figures must be counted or cited; impressions are not measurements.
• Price guarantees. Any price we show is a dated snapshot. The retailer's checkout price applies.

Corrections

Write to [email protected]. A correction is made on the page it affects, and the source it rests on is cited there.

Advertising

We do not sell display advertising, sponsored posts, or placement in any list. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
